CAPO - Serving the needs of Portland's cabdriving community

WELCOME!

At long last, CAPO has a website!  Yes, much of it is still under construction.  But bear with us.  These projects always seem to take longer than one first imagines – especially when you work up to 80 hours or more each week at your hectic day job.

But here it is – a forum for Portland cabbies to discuss their issues, catch up on recent events, and address the unique challenges we face as taxi drivers in The City of Roses.  Check in here to find pertinent memos about taxi issues.  Search this site for information on taxi-related city business, or send your questions to the driver’s representative at cabdriversalliance@gmail.com.  We’ll do our best to keep you informed on the issues that matter most to all working cabbies in Portland.

You can also post photos and video clips here depicting cabbie life in Portland.  Just send them to the above email address.  We’d especially love to see video evidence of illegal taxis operating without a license.  If you’ve got a video camera in your cell phone, get us a clip of illegal taxis servicing customers in Portland and let this site work for you in documenting this important issue.

You’ll also find minutes from driver’s meetings, updates on city business, and facts related to the taxi industry that Portland visitors should know.

And of course, we’ll link to other sources on the web that shed light on the taxi experience in Portland and beyond.

As time goes by, we hope to expand our forum to provide an online exchange for your thoughts and ideas.

Meanwhile, send us your suggestions and commentary.  Help make this website a productive resource to improve the working lives of Portland cabbies.  Be informed, and get involved.

And keep the wheels turning!

Red Diamond,
Driver’s Representative.

Upcoming Events

The Portland City Council will meet on November 7th to discuss taxi permit recommendations and taxi industry reform proposals.  This meeting is open to the public and will likely be the final opportunity for drivers to speak out against adding 132 new taxis to Portland's taxi fleet.
